REGULATORY - ADMINISTRATIVE - Eighteen successful appeals based on improper Customs Duty calculations

The office represented a corporate client that is a major goods importer against the Customs Administration in relation to a number of decisions concerning goods imports in Serbia.

The client was retroactively pursued for further Customs duties and fees for various goods imported into Serbia and received initial decisions showing approximately 50 million dinars of obligations towards the state.

The office appealed to the Appeals Commission for all the 18 separate shipment of goods. The appeals were based on incorrect valuations and various procedural faults made by the relevant organs, including the improper valuation techniques used by the officers.

The appeals were successful and the client released from paying the extra duties.
